Mophie Recalls iPod Touch Rechargeable External Battery Case Due to Burn Hazard

Name of Product: Rechargeable External Battery Case

Units: About 6,118

Importer: Mophie LLC, of Paw Paw, Mich.

Hazard: The battery case�s integrated circuit switch can overheat, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Mophie has received 110 reports of the product becoming warm to the touch, 44 reports of the product deforming and nine reports of minor burns.

Description: The recalled product is a Mophie Juice Pack Air rechargeable external battery which consists of a lithium polymer battery built into a plastic case designed to snap onto the back of an iPod Touch 4G music player. The battery cases come in black, blue or red. Only battery cases with serial numbers that have the first five alphanumeric characters of TR113 through TR120 are subject to this recall. The serial number can be found inside the housing of the product.

Sold at: B& H Photo, Barnes & Noble, InMotion Entertainment, J&R Music World, Marine Corps Exchange stores, Amazon.com and mophie.com since April 2011 for about $50.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Mophie for instructions on receiving a replacement product.

Rocketfish Battery Case for iPhone 3G/3GS Recalled by Best Buy Due to Fire Hazard

Name of Product: Rocketfish™ Model RF-KL12 Mobile Battery Cases for iPhone 3G and 3GS

Units: About 31,000 in the U.S. and about 1,000 in Canada

Importer: Best Buy Co. Inc., of Richfield, Minn.

Hazard: The battery case can overheat while charging, posing a fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: CPSC and the firm have received about 14 reports of the battery cases overheating in the United States, including three reports of minor burns to consumers and four reports of minor property damage.

Description: This recall includes the Rocketfish™ Model RF-KL12 Mobile Battery Case. The battery case is made of black lightweight, soft-touch rubberized material designed to hold the phone securely, and comes with a built-in battery. The model number �RF-KL12� appears on the front of the product�s packaging, on the packaging barcode, and in white print on the curved inner surface of the product.

Sold exclusively at: Best Buy stores nationwide, Future Shop and Best Buy stores in Canada, and online from about April 2010 through about September 2011 for between $10 and $60.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - November 23, 2011 - King & Prince Seafood Corp. of Brunswick, GA, is initiating a voluntary recall of Nova Style Cold Smoked Salmon and Sable Fish Lox, Salmon Sushi Fillets, and Salmon Trim because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

To date there have been no reports of illness in connection with this product being recalled.

The products were distributed nationwide through brokers and foodservice distributors during period starting on October 4th 2011. All products are originally distributed frozen, but may be sold refrigerated at the retail level.

All Nova Style, pre-sliced, cold smoked products, sushi fillets, and salmon trims are packed in vacuum pouches and distributed frozen.

The recalled products are marked with one of the following production Date Codes and they are observed on the individual pouches and master cases: 1277W, 1278W, 1279W, 1280W, 1281W, 1283W, 1284W, 1285W, 1286W, 1287W, 1290W, 1291W, 1292W, 1293W, 1294W, 1297W, 1298W, 1299W, 1300W, 1303W, 1306W, 1311W, 1312W, 1313W, 1314W.

For customers who have any of the above products with these codes they should return the product where purchased for full refund. Distributors should notify King & Prince Seafood of quantities they wish to return once their internal recall process has been completed.

If the product was purchased from one of King & Prince Seafood’s Re-Distribution partners, product will need to be returned through that Re-Distributor. Product purchased direct from King & Prince Seafood can be returned directly to King & Prince Seafood’s warehouse.

The firm initiated a voluntary recall after FDA collected finished products samples and environmental swab samples during the investigation, and the samples were found positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
This recall is made with the knowledge of U.S Food and Drug Administration.

  • Allergy Alert: Diamond Crystal Brands Inc. (Savannah, GA) recalls GFS® Sugar (12-oz; Lot G293 B), because the containers were inadvertently filled with non-dairy coffee creamer. The items were shipped in 24-can cases labeled GFS® non-dairy coffee creamer.
  • Food Safety Recall Update: California Department of Public Health posts list of retailers in California who were supplied with Romaine lettuce recalled by Ready Pac Foods, Inc. due to potential contamination with E. coli O157:H7. California supermarkets selling the recalled lettuce include Safeway, Boney’s, Harvest Ranch, Jonathan’s La Jolla, Stater Brothers, Vons/Pavillions and Supervalu/Albertsons.

Canada

  • Allergy Alert: Cuisine Pasta Casareccia inc (Montreal, QC) recalls Pesto Rosso al Pomodoro, because it contains undeclared parmesan cheese.
  • Allergy Alert: Fresh Direct Foods Ltd. recalls Get Fresh Veggie Cup (185g; All best before dates up to and including 11NO23), due to the presence of undeclared egg and milk.
  • Food Safety Recall: Cuisine Pasta Casareccia inc. (Montreal, QC ) recalls Pesto Classico Genovese (glass jars sold up to and including November 16th), because the pesto may not be safe for human consumption.
  • Food Safety Recall: Ginger Beef Choice Ltd. (Calgary, AB) expands its earlier recall of ready-to-eat products, because the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Some of the products were distributed in bulk and sold from clerk-service counters at grocery stores. The recalled products (please refer to the recall notice for a detailed list) were distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.

Europe

Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands

  • Outbreak Alert (India): Six infants who live at the Shishu Gruha orphanage in Hanamkonda have been admitted to hospital for symptoms of food poisoning. Shishu Gruha is the only government-run children’s home for 0-6 year old orphans and abandoned children in Warangal, and is run directly by the district woman and child development agency.
  • Outbreak Alert (Hong Kong): The Centre for Health Protection is investigating two suspected food poisoning incidents involving a total of seven patrons of a restaurant in Yau Tsim Mong district. The patients developed abdominal pain and diarrhea about three to 10 hours after dining at the restaurant. All seven people are in stable condition.
  • Contact Lens Safety Recall Update (Hong Kong and Singapore): Oculus Optical (H.K.) Co., Ltd recalls FreshKon Airis 1-Month contact lenses, imported into Hong Kong from Singapore. These CooperVision lenses are reported to have the same defect – a silicone oil residue – as the Avaira contact lenses that have been recalled by the manufacturer.

Motion Sensing Wall Switches Recalled by HeathCo due to Electrical Shock Hazard

Name of Product: Heath®/Zenith and WirelessCommand® motion sensing wall switches

Units: About 75,000

Manufacturer: HeathCo, LLC of Bowling Green, Ky.

Hazard: When the switches are in the auto mode and the light is off, a small amount of leakage current passes through the electric circuit, including the socket. If consumers fail to disconnect the power at the circuit breaker and make contact with both terminals inside the socket while replacing the bulbs, there is a risk of an electric shock.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported

Description: This recall involves Heath®/Zenith and WirelessCommand® motion sensing wall switches with model numbers listed below. The product replaces a standard household wall switch and is designed to turn off the attached lighting load when motion is no longer detected in the room. The products come in white or ivory. The brand name and model number can be found on a label located on the side of the switch.

Liebherr Expands Recall of Refrigerators Due to Injury Hazard; Door Can Detach

Name of Product: Liebherr Freestanding 30-Inch Wide, Bottom Freezer Refrigerators

Units: About 8,000 units (About 5,700 built-in 30-inch wide, bottom freezer refrigerators were recalled in March 2011)

Importer: Liebherr-Canada Ltd of Ontario, of Canada

Manufacturer: Liebherr-Hausgeraete Lienz GmbH, of Austria.

Hazard: The refrigerator's door can detach, posing an injury hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Liebherr has received 16 additional reports of doors detaching on the freestanding refrigerators, including two reports of injuries involving bruising and strains.

Description: This recall involves Liebherr freestanding 30-inch wide, bottom freezer refrigerators with model and index numbers listed below. The refrigerators were sold individually or as side-by-side companion units. The refrigerators come in a stainless steel finish. "Liebherr" is on the upper center of the refrigerator door and the top interior control panel. The model number can be found on a label located behind the bottom drawer on the left interior side of the single door refrigerator.

Remedy: Consumers with recalled refrigerators should contact Liebherr immediately to schedule a free in-home repair. Consumers should check their refrigerator immediately to see whether the door hinge pin has become loose as indicated by a popped up hinge pin at the top. If the hinge has not become loose and the door is functioning properly, consumers may continue to use the refrigerator until it is repaired.

Build-A-Bear Recalls Teddy Bear Swimwear Set Due to Strangulation Hazard

Name of Product: Swimwear Set With Inflatable Inner Tube

Units: About 19,720 units in the United States and 1,100 units in Canada

Importer: Build-A-Bear Workshop®, of St. Louis

Hazard: The inner tube accessory can be pulled over a small child's head, posing a strangulation hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: Build-A-Bear received one report of an incident in which a 3-year-old girl pulled the inner tube over her head and had difficulty removing it.

Description: The inner tube is part of the three-piece Fruit Tutu Bikini swimwear set for teddy bears, which includes a two-piece fruit-print bikini. The inner tube is 9 inches in diameter and pink with white and yellow flowers printed on it. The model number of the swimwear set is 017220 and is located on the price sticker on the "Build-A-Bear" cardboard tag.

Sold at: Build-A-Bear Workshop® stores nationwide and online at www.buildabear.com from April 2011 to August 2011 for $12.50.

Build-A-Bear Recalls Teddy Bear Swimwear Set Due to Strangulation Hazard

Children's Animal Slippers Recalled Due to Choking Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Family Dollar Stores

Name of Product: Kidgets® Animal Sock Top Slippers

Units: About 160,000

Hazard: The animal's eyes can detach from the slippers, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Incidents/Injuries: Family Dollar has received one report of the eyes detaching from the slippers. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled children's slippers have brown or tan dog faces, yellow duck faces and tan lion faces. The name "Kidgets" and the size appear inside the slippers on the soles. "FD9619108020690611" is printed inside the slippers on the side.

Sold exclusively at: Family Dollar stores nationwide from September 2011 through October 2011 for about $5.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the slippers away from children and return them to any Family Dollar store for a full refund.
