(Best Syndication News) - A voluntary recall has been announced for Navien Instantaneous Tankless Water Heaters because a connection could fail and if the vent collar detaches could release carbon monoxide. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) along with the importer, Navien America, located in Irvine, California, made the safety recall announcement.
Approximately 13,000 tankless water heaters involved in this recall. Navien America is the importer, while the manufacturer of the product is Kyung Dong Navien Co. Ltd., from South Korea. No injuries were reported in association with this recall. Wholesale distributors and home installers sold the water heaters nationwide from February 2008 through March 2009. The tankless water heaters sold for $1,500 - $2,100.
The recalled hot water heaters have the words “T-Creator” and “Navien” printed on the front of the white case. The model numbers involved are CR-180(A), CR-210(A), CR-240(A), CC-180(A), CC-210(A) and CC-240(A) and all were manufactured in 2008. The model number and year of manufacturer is located on a label located on the side of the water heater.
Consumers that have the recalled tankless water heater should stop using the product until they can get the free repair completed. If they must use the water heater, a carbon monoxide alarms should be installed outside the sleeping areas throughout the home. Carbon monoxide poisoning is deadly with extensive exposure. Carbon monoxide does not have an odor. The CPSC recommends all homes have carbon monoxide alarms installed regardless of this recall.
