A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) site indicates that the nine Odyssey minivans were built from October 31, 2011 through November 30, 2011.

The NHTSA notice further describes the issue this way: “The retention nut for the right front lower suspension damper bolt may not have been tightened to the proper torque, potentially allowing the nut to loosen.”
In the event that the nut loosens, only one bolt would secure the front hub assembly. This condition would allow the wheel assembly to shift to an extreme inward angle, resulting in a loss of steering and increasing crash risk.
According to a Detroit News report, just three had been sold and six were still on dealer lots. Honda said it has contacted all nine owners of the 2012 Odyssey minivans affected on December 19, 2011 and repaired the vehicles free of charge.
