2007 Volvo S80
Volvo is recalling certain 2007 model-year S80 sedans to correct a possible power steering system flaw.A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) site lists the number of potential affected units at 8,406. Affected vehicles were manufactured from March 8, 2006, through May 16, 2007.
The NHTSA notice says that the power steering reservoir return hose may have been routed incorrectly. This can result in increased pressure in the power steering system, possibly causing the power steering return hose to burst at the steering gear and resulting in a loss of power steering fluid.
Further, the NHTSA notice says the driver may experience a sudden loss of power steering, which increases the risk of a crash.
Volvo dealers will inspect the routing of the power steering reservoir and make any necessary repairs, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during August 2011.
In the meantime, owners of 2007 Volvo S80 models with questions or concerns may contact Volvo at 201-768-7300 and reference Volvo Safety Recall No. R246.
