Hazard: The front swivel wheels can lock while the stroller is in motion, causing the stroller to tip and posing a fall hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: Four incidents have been reported where the stroller�s swivel wheels locked and the stroller tipped over. In two of these incidents, a baby and a toddler suffered minor injuries.

Description: The recalled strollers are made for newborns and toddlers up to 37 pounds. They are sold in two frame colors: silver and all black. The stroller�s seat comes in black or denim colors and canopy colors include yellow, black, khaki, blue, pink and red, plus special collections colors such as tangerine, soft pink, light green, dark purple, denim and the Missoni print collection. Production dates from January 2011 through September 2011, which are printed with the month abbreviated and year, i.e �Jan. 2011�, the �Bugaboo Bee� name and company address are printed on the date code label located on the stroller frame under the seat unit. �Bugaboo Bee� is also printed on the side of the seat backrest.

Sold by: Toys R Us, Buy Buy Baby and other baby product stores nationwide, online at Bugaboo.com and other online retailers between February 2011 and September 2011 for about $650.

Importer: Pottery Barn Kids, a division of Williams-Sonoma Inc., of San Francisco, Calif.

Hazard: The connections of the posts to the top rails of the canopy can come apart, allowing components of the canopy to fall and posing an impact hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm is aware of 33 reports of components of the canopy falling, including one report of a cut that required stitches and nine other reports of minor cuts, bruises and/or bumps.

Description: The canopy is part of the Madeline Bedroom Collection. It is made of wood and consists of four posts that connect to the headboard and footboard of the bed and four rails that connect to the top portion of each post. It is available for twin-, full- and queen-sized Madeline Beds and comes in white, antique white, blade green, Sun Valley blade green, Sun Valley light green and Sun Valley espresso. Pottery Barn Kids previously sold the canopy separately as an option for the Madeline Bed.

The Pampered Chef Recalls Ice Cream Dippers Due to Impact Injury Hazard

Manufacturer: The Zeroll Company, of Fort Pierce, Fla.

Hazard: When the liquid-filled ice cream scoop is exposed to warm water, the cap and seal at the end of the scoop handle can fly off with substantial force, posing an impact injury hazard to nearby consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The Pampered Chef has received 16 reports including damage to kitchen items and six reports of personal injuries including lacerations, bruises and redness caused by caps coming off the base of the handle.

Description: The dippers are metallic gray aluminum with a plastic dome-shaped cap on the base of the handle. �Pampered Chef� is imprinted in the cap. The ice cream dippers measure around seven inches in length. A non-toxic liquid is sealed inside the handle of the product which conducts the heat of your hand to more easily scoop hard ice cream.

Tankless Water Heater Recall announced due to Carbon Monoxide Hazard | Best Syndication

(Best Syndication News) - A voluntary recall has been announced for Navien Instantaneous Tankless Water Heaters because a connection could fail and if the vent collar detaches could release carbon monoxide. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) along with the importer, Navien America, located in Irvine, California, made the safety recall announcement.

Approximately 13,000 tankless water heaters involved in this recall. Navien America is the importer, while the manufacturer of the product is Kyung Dong Navien Co. Ltd., from South Korea. No injuries were reported in association with this recall. Wholesale distributors and home installers sold the water heaters nationwide from February 2008 through March 2009. The tankless water heaters sold for $1,500 - $2,100.

The recalled hot water heaters have the words “T-Creator” and “Navien” printed on the front of the white case. The model numbers involved are CR-180(A), CR-210(A), CR-240(A), CC-180(A), CC-210(A) and CC-240(A) and all were manufactured in 2008. The model number and year of manufacturer is located on a label located on the side of the water heater.

Consumers that have the recalled tankless water heater should stop using the product until they can get the free repair completed. If they must use the water heater, a carbon monoxide alarms should be installed outside the sleeping areas throughout the home. Carbon monoxide poisoning is deadly with extensive exposure. Carbon monoxide does not have an odor. The CPSC recommends all homes have carbon monoxide alarms installed regardless of this recall.

Those with the recalled water heaters can contact Navien to schedule an appointment to get a free repair to replace all the Nylon 66 vent collars with PVC collars. Yesterday, Canada's food safety regulatory agency, CFIA, warned consumers not to eat certain jalapeno peppers sold primarily in bulk and unlabeled, out of fears of Salmonella contamination. The peppers were from Cal Fresco, a California company, which had also distributed the peppers to retail establishments in California, Oregon, Washington, and Texas. Cal Fresco recalled the peppers yesterday as well. See details of Cal Fresco jalapeno pepper recall.

Yesterday evening, the Packer had an article on Cal Fresco's recall, which contains some food for thought.

Fernando Vargas, owner and founder of Cal Fresco in Buena Park, Calif., said Dec. 21 he took immediate action when the Food and Drug Administration notified him. He said that within two and a half hours of receiving notice from the FDA of positive test results, he had contacted all of his customers who received the peppers.

Vargas said he was frustrated the government didn’t work as quickly.

He said the tests were done Dec. 12, but he wasn’t notified until Dec. 19.

[Further], The serrano peppers were initially more difficult to trace “because the USDA Sample and Isolated Pathogen Information Report failed to disclose individual lot numbers” of the tested peppers, according to a news release from Cal Fresco.

[Finally] As of 6:45 p.m. eastern time on Dec. 21, the FDA had not posted a notice on its website in relation to the Cal Fresco recall. The agency sent an e-mail alert on the recall notice to subscribers at about 6 a.m. Dec. 22.

That's a total of 9 days since the original positive test for Salmonella before the contaminated peppers were recalled. Cal Fresco, based on known information, is certainly not to blame for the delay, as it can only act on the information that it has. Indeed, the free flow of information is the only currency for public health.

2011 Nissan Juke: Recall-Alert

2011 Nissan Juke

Nissan is recalling certain 2011 Nissan Juke compact cars over concerns that they could stall without warning.

A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) site lists the number of potential affected units at 28,294. Affected vehicles were manufactured April 9, 2010, the start of production, through May 12, 2011.

Documentation from Nissan indicates that Nissan Jukes manufactured after those dates were not affected. In addition, the automaker said that no other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles are affected because they do not use the subject air inlet tube.

The NHTSA notice says that the turbocharged boost sensor bracket may separate from the air inlet tube as a result of a defective weld. If the bracket comes off, the vehicle could stall without warning, thus increasing crash risk.

The explanation from Nissan is that if the bracket separated, the vehicle goes into a “fail safe” mode and a warning light comes on to alert the driver. Continued operation of the vehicle may cause it to stall during idling and, in rare instances, it may not re-start.

Nissan will notify owners and dealers will check the lot number on the air inlet tube, replacing the tube, if necessary, at no charge. The Nissan safety recall is expected to begin on or about January 9, 2012.

Hazard: When the toasters are first plugged into the outlets, the heating element can be energized although the toaster lifter is in the up or off position, which can pose a fire hazard if the toaster is near flammable items.

Incidents/Injuries: Hamilton Beach has received 5 reports of toasters being energized when first plugged into an outlet. There have been no reports of injuries or property damage.

Description: The Hamilton Beach recall involves model 22602 toasters. The model number is printed on the bottom of the toaster. The toaster has a chromed steel exterior, a front control panel with a rotary toast shade selector and function buttons arranged in an arc, a front removable crumb tray and �Hamilton Beach� printed below the control panel.

Sold at: Mass merchandisers and department, grocery and home center stores nationwide from August 2011 through November 2011 for between $19 and $34. Also, some of these toasters were sent to consumers as replacements for model 22600 toasters recalled in June 2011.
